French's Automatic Toy

This a simple yet elegant trade card.

Note the discrepancy in the card's descriptions of the bank's action. On the obverse, the wording indicates that the boy will revolve six times if a half-dollar is deposited, while the description on the reverse only promises four revolutions. (Six times is the correct figure.)

The French's Automatic Toy Bank card is unsigned; it was issued in 1888. It's shown here at 85 percent of full size.
