Risque

Trade cards in the risque subject category usually fall into two general types. One type makes use of double-entendre, and the other is found in some metamorphic trade cards that show a suggestive scene which turns out to be much less racy when the card is opened.

Cards in this category were usually produced in the late 1890s and early 1900s and, as might be imagined, advertised products used mostly by men. Sometimes they are more vulgar than risque.
