Articles About Trade Cards

Stronger Than ...

by Ben Crane

Trade cards emphasizing a thread's strength show it being used to pull, support, or capture something in a greatly exaggerated manner. Pulling usually involves lifting or rescuing, supporting usually involves a tightrope or bridge, and capturing usually involves a lasso or net. The 50 trade cards shown below at 25 percent of actual size are examples of such cards.

Eleven different companies are represented by these cards. The companies and examples for each are: Kerr, 1, 2, 50; Merrick, 3 - 12; Willimantic, 13 - 19; Eureka 20; Clark, 21 - 25; Corticelli, 26; Coats, 27 - 33, 49; Florence, 34, 35; Brooks, 36, 37; California Silk, 38 - 41; and Belden, 42 - 48.
